I’m really looking forward to Strictly Come Dancing’s Halloween show on Saturday 1st November. It’s my favourite episode of the series as the makeup, costumes and performances are always amazing. If you haven’t seen a Strictly Halloween episode then you can watch them again on you tube, well worth a look!
Strictly Come Dancing 2013 saw some truly gruesome costumes and Halloween make up, including:
- Abbey Clancy – the makeup artist created a white masquerade ball mask and applied red lipstick to compliment it (danced the Rumba to ‘Stay’ with Aljaz)
- Natalie Gumede – she had red lips and a green shimmery forehead (danced the Viennese Waltz to ‘Devil in Me’ with Artem)
- Susanna Reid – her smoky eyes had a spooky feel with feather false eye lashes and metallic white eye shadow (danced the Charleston to ‘Bad Moon Rising’ with Kevin)
- Ashley Taylor-Dawson definitely looked like a monster with a ghostly white face and red eye makeup (he danced the tango to ‘Beautiful Monster’)
As a makeup artist in Manchester I couldn’t help thinking about what the 2014 Strictly Come Dancing contestant’s halloween makeup will look like, so here’s some ideas I’ve come up with (add your suggestions in the comments!):
Mark Wright – Edward Scissorhands
And my favourite…
Judy Murray as Cruella deville
We’ll just have to wait and see what the BBC producers come up with, and the Strictly Judges – Len Goodman, Darcey Bussell, Bruno Tonioli and Craig Revel Hall – will choose their favourites. Watch the show and have a frighteningly good Halloween!
