With Christmas approaching it’s a great opportunity to have a look through your make up bag for any products lurking at the bottom that you haven’t used for years. Be ruthless; throw them out and ask for some brand spanking new cosmetics to be put around the tree.

When it comes to make up use-by dates, most cosmetics brands encourage us to replace items frequently, but of course they’d love us to head back to the counter every 6 months. So, what are the REAL use-by dates on our favourite items of make up:

– MASCARA – 3 to 6 months
– EYESHADOW – 1 year
– FOUNDATION – 6 to 8 months
– POWDER – 2 years
– CONCEALER – 18 months
– LIPSTICK- 2 years
– NAIL VARNISH – 1 year

Remember: Make up that’s past its best can be bad for your health, so bin it and head down to your favourite store and enjoy experimenting with new make up products!
